Albany Pine Bush Preserve Discovery Center / Albany, New York
Silver LEED Seeking Project
2002-2007
The preserve is located in an inland pine barrens ecosystem - the remnant of a
glacial lake that vanished 12,000-15,000 years ago.  This unique area is home to
twenty rare species, including the Karner Blue butterfly. The design for the
Discovery Center site provides visitors with up-close examples of the dominant
community types found in the heavily-fragmented pine bush.

Monhonk Preserve / New Paltz, New York
This preserve is over 6,500 acres located in the Shawangunk Mountains in New
York. The design for it included an educational center and a network of interpretive
trails with informational kiosks.
Ecologically sensitive areas can be a major challenge when it comes to design.
Hudson & Pacific Designs takes the utmost care when designing in these areas.
